Primary Purpose:

Perform mechanical repairs to ensure proper performance and safety of district vehicles to insure optimum performance.  Work on projects assigned, follow established procedures.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B w/S & P Endorsements)

High School Diploma or equivalent

Certified in CPR and First Aid (Preferred)

Obtain State CI & Safety Inspector Certification within 180 day of employment

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Must be 18 years of age

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to follow written and verbal instruction

Ability to pass alcohol and drug test. (Pre-employment & random)

Have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report meeting the requirements of the State of Texas.

Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs with general supervision.

Ability to operate tools and equipment involved in vehicle repair.

Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts.

Ability to complete required Texas School Bus Certification Course.

Ability to operate school bus.

Automotive diagnostic equipment, tools needed for repairing or changing tires, small hand tools, drill, drill press, grinder, air-powered tools, torque wrench, jack, air compressor, and welding torch and lift equipment. School bus and district vehicles. AC gauges

Work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, working around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
