Primary Purpose: To assist with the  catering events as needed including preparation of food and serving at event times. Maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices; Excellent customer service skill and willingness to be flexible in job related task.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification: Food Handler Certificate (can be received within first 30 days of employment, department will pay for course)

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience in the food service/catering preferred

 

Special Knowledge/ Skills:

Ability to understand food preparation and safety instructions.

Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures.

Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment and tools.

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.

Ability to read and adjust recipes.

Ability to schedule events

Ability to invoice clients for events

Have a growth mindset and eagerness to learn.

Ability to communicate with others in all settings

Ability to arrange a place setting and catering displays

 

Safety and Sanitation

Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards.

Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety.

Keep garbage collection containers and areas neat and sanitary.

Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately

Maintain personal appearance and hygiene.

Maintain Food Manager certificate every 5 years.

Follow all policies and procedures in the Food Service Handbook.

 

Other

Handle and record payments for events

Help keep inventory and order needed supplies

Complete any other task assigned by Food Service Director

 

Working conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:

Continual standing, walking, pushing, pulling; frequent stopping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder), moderate lifting and caring; moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
